  • Consume a diet made up mostly of fresh food, especially fruit and vegetables – this is the best way to reduce salt intake
  • Limit intake of processed foods containing excess salt
  • Read the label and choose products with <400mg of sodium per 100g

  • Set and monitor targets to reduce salt in identified food categories
  • Measure and monitor changes in population salt intake
  • Ensure consumer health promotion campaigns address the importance of reducing salt consumption
