The best way to cut down on your salt intake is to cook fresh! You’ll find below some easy recipes that are full of flavour and low in salt. They are also recipes that will store well and can be easily prepared at the beginning of the week, so you don’t have to reach for processed foods during the busy working week. Most of them are super simple so get the kids involved and cook up a storm!

Beetroot dip

Ingredients

  • 2-3 beetroots
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 cup low fat Greek yoghurt
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 2 teaspoons fresh dill

Method

  1. Cut the stems off the beetroot, peel, then chop into 2cm pieces
  2. Roast beetroots and garlic in oven at 200 degrees.
  3. Add beetroot and garlic to food processor and process until smooth.
  4. Transfer to a bowl and stir in yoghurt, lemon juice and fresh dill
  5. Cover and refrigerate for a few hours to allow flavours to develop
  6. Serve with vegetable sticks
